My “intimate” landscapes reflect tranquil moments in time where nature speaks with a whisper instead of a shout, inviting the viewer to step nearer and take a closer look at the tiniest details found in even the most expansive vistas of nature. They are painted as an homage to Mother Nature and envision a world sans the destructive forces of man, with scenes welcoming the viewer in as the first one to see them.
Born in southern Texas, Tammy Kaufman grew up in the Piedmont of North Carolina after traveling the United States and Europe with her family as a youngster. A former 24-hour endurance mountain bike racer, she currently resides in central North Carolina with her husband, Steve, and adopted pets, Frylie and Venus. Now retired from competitive cycling, she continues to cherish the wonders of nature through her landscape paintings, and donates the profits from all painting sales to animal and environmental charities. Though primarily self-taught as an artist, she has studied pastels and participated in online pastel courses, and continues to take classes and workshops to further her progression in the arts. She is a member of the Pastel Society of North Carolina, Southeastern Pastel Society, Oil Pastel Society, Fine Arts League of Cary and North Carolina Plein Air Painters, and is a juried Associate Member of the Pastel Society of America. Her paintings have been juried into multiple shows across North Carolina and hang in private collections throughout the United States.
