Kathy Herring has always loved to draw and paint, with a natural affinity for doing portraits. She studied at the Art Students’ League in New York City and at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, where she met fellow artist David Shevlino, her husband. They have recently moved here from Delaware, and are thrilled by the beauty and charm of North Carolina. About My Work
The study of a human face grants me a glimpse into the soul that animates it; this is why my first love as a fine artist, my passion, is portraiture. I’ve always had a special gift for portraiture, and am especially fond of drawing children. People almost always tell me that I have captured more than just the appearance of their loved one, but something about their spirit, the unique spark of their individuality.
