Call for Art Wake Forest Dance Festival About the Wake Forest Dance Festival:
Wake Forest Arts invites you to join us for Wake Forest Dance Festival. This exciting and unique event is scheduled on Saturday, September 30 at beautiful E. Carroll Joyner Park. This event will be free and open to the public. The Wake Forest Dance Festival is the premier performance of the Wake Forest Dance Project and is directed by local resident and professional dancer, Mariya “Masha” Dashkina Maddux, former principal dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company in New York.
More info can be found at https://www.wakeforestdancefestival.org/
Call for Art: The Wake Forest Dance Festival invites the artists of the WFGA to create art to be used in the event poster (possibly other prints or merchandise such as tshirts as well – to be determined). They are now looking for art to enhance the community experience and bring artistic expression full circle.
Theme: The selection committee is asking for the art to bring to life the feeling of bodies in motion and the connection between dance and nature. The committee selected three photographs that were taken at Joyner Park (photography by Larry Bass and Maksym Kolotun) and ask that the artists use these as inspiration, not duplication, for their artwork. (photos are not posted here, however, -please contact email@example.com for images and logo) The festival already has a logo in use – it is not necessary to recreate a logo, however…the logo may also be used as inspiration.
Medium: Any medium is acceptable. However, please keep in mind the inspiration source and that the final image will be used on a poster in tandem with the festival logo. The selected artist will be given credit on the festival poster. Also, if the image is adaptable to other uses the committee may look into placing the image on tshirts etc.
Dimensions: Original art should be no smaller than 12”w x 16” h. Please submit your entries by email. Your digital image should be no lower than 300dpi.
Deadline: July 14th, 2017 Notification: July 21st, 2017
How to apply: Please send the following info as well as your image (jpg format) to:
Pam Stevens at firstname.lastname@example.org
